In an inspiring display of empowerment and education, JW Networks successfully hosted the third edition of its flagship event, Girls on Wheels Volume 3, at the state-of-the-art ProRide Electric Avenue. The event, held on June 15, 2024, drew a diverse group of 60 female participants from various professional backgrounds, including banking, engineering, and marketing.
This year’s event was notably supported by the National Development Bank, which sent its female employees as part of their ongoing women empowerment program. This initiative underscores the importance of encouraging women to explore and engage in fields traditionally dominated by men, such as motorsport.
Participants benefitted from a series of insightful and practical sessions: – Road Safety: Inspector of Police Ravin Sumanarathne from the Sri Lanka Police Department, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Traffic Headquarters, led a session focused on improving road safety and driving practices. – Car Detailing Certification: Kavinda Perera, MD of Pink Academy, introduced attendees to an internationally recognized car detailing educational program. Pink Academy stands out as the only detailing center in Sri Lanka employing female detailers. – Motorsport Awareness and Safety: Theoretical and practical insights were provided by Mr. Shehan De Thisera, Former Secretary of Sri Lanka Auto Sport, and Mr. Abeeth Dangalla, Former Technical Committee Chairman at Sri Lanka Auto Sport. These sessions covered everything from the basics of motorsport to advanced racing techniques and safety measures. The event’s success was amplified by the support of several esteemed sponsors and partners: – Maliban provided gift packs for participants. – Red Bull joined as the energy drink provider. – Barista Coffee offered morning coffee to energize the participants. – Prodography captured the event’s memorable moments as the official photo and videography partner. – Good PR supported the project as the PR and marketing partner. – RSVP & Co ensured smooth event management.
