Event management association Sri Lanka are proud to bring you Dream Music Fest, a seated concert that will offer an amazing, groundbreaking experience to local audiences that have been starved of live music for so long. Supported by the Derana in association with the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre and sponsored by Dialog, the event is fully endorsed by the Ministry of Health and is the first seated concert to take place after the Covid-19 restrictions.
There can be little doubt that the entertainment industry has been one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Having never experienced a disaster of this scale before, it has left many in the industry struggling to survive. With businesses collapsing and entertainers and venues being choked of income, the industry is in dire straits. The principal aim of the Dream Music Festival is to bring fresh vitality and energy to this beleagued sector and mark the start of a new beginning.
The organizers have been determined to put together the best comeback event Sri Lanka has ever seen. Dream Music Festival will offer an unprecedented journey through Sri Lankan music, featuring a cross-cultural lineup of artists who have never shared the stage before. For one exciting evening, attendees will be able to enjoy the best of Eastern and Western music, performed by well-known musicians and hit bands. The best DJs and Beat drummers will keep the rhythm going while singers from a variety of age groups will supply music that will delight young and old alike. Classical singers will take the stage together with the latest pop bands, catering to every taste. Multiple comperes and the latest music directors will be on hand to ensure that an unparalleled music experience is offered.
The festival, which is scheduled for the 23rd of August, will begin at 5.00pm with DJs Kosala, Ishan and Shiran, accompanied by Elephant Foot Drummers. The opening act will be provided by Mahesh Denapitiya and friends. After an opening video, audiences will be treated to the Oriental section of the night with music provided by the band Naada. Compered by Kelum Srimal, this section will feature artists such as Kasun Kalhara, Athma Liyanage, Sunil Perera, Samitha Mudunkotuwa and Sanka Dineth. The Western music section and Youth music section will follow with a star-studded line-up, including Bathiya and Santhush, Sanuka Wickremasinghe, Lahiru Perera,Ridma Weerawardana and Danith Sri, entertaining the audience.
All relevant health and safety regulations will be strictly followed for this event. Tickets can only be purchased online to reduce physical contact and gates will open 2 hours prior to the event to minimize attendee congestion. The venue will be thoroughly sanitized and all entrances will have temperature checking equipment and hand washing facilities.
