Having successfully brought world-class MMA and boxing action to Sri Lanka earlier this year, ‘Cage Rage presented by GILLS’ once again delivered high-octane fighting action to local fans with the latest event held at MAS ARENA recently.
Cage Rage has made history as Sri Lanka’s pioneering fight event company that is focused on highlighting the growing potential and popularity of the sport of MMA and boxing in the country. Cage Rage is aiming to be the best fight event organization in Sri Lanka and provide a platform for local MMA fighters and boxers to showcase their natural talent and fighting capabilities to a large, growing fan base while also harnessing their skills by competing with the very best both locally and internationally. The company has already played a role in increasing the income levels of fighters for participation and continued to enhance their exposure to a wider audience driven by the extensive marketing and promotion campaign for the event carried out on multiple platforms. Dhiren Mapagunaratne – Founder of Cage Rage adopted an unorthodox approach to marketing of the company and its events, helping to grab the attention of local fans and giving them a taste of high quality fighting event of international standards. The organizers have made considerable investments to create eye catching promotional videos, post fight interviews, and offer bigger payments to fighters. Special guest appearances by famous personalities and performances by popular DJs have helped to enhance the entertainment levels and ensure audiences are offered a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.
Capitalising on the success of the first Cage Rage event held earlier this year, this latest Cage Rage event attracted a significantly larger audience. The impact of the previous Cage Rage event is evident in the fact that several international fighters reached out to the organization prior to the event and requested to participate. Russian and Maldivian fighters participated for the first time at Cage Rage helping to elevate the overall standard of competition. The Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment in the Maldives had also demonstrated his support for the event by sharing information about the Maldivian fighter participating in Cage Rage on his social media. There was also one of the fighters at the event who underwent specialized training in Singapore with ex-UFC fighters. Additionally, the event’s online promotions successfully reached a wider audience in multiple countries and the entire event was livestreamed to international audiences, bringing a new dimension of engagement and excitement to the event.
GILLS International, Sri Lanka’s largest exporter of processed meat products, was once again the Main Sponsor of Cage Rage. Birds Resort Hambanthota, Sri Lanka’s first luxury aviary resort located inside South Asia’s largest bird park, was the Platinum Sponsor while One Touch (Supporting Sponsor) and Sun FM (Official Radio Partner) also boosted the event.
