The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), the apex body for Sri Lankan Marketers, is set to inspire young marketers and creatives by educating them on how brands work in today’s fast-evolving digital era at the SLIM Brand Summit 2021.
The SLIM Brand Summit 2021 will be a live Virtual Panel Discussion held on the Zoom platform on Saturday, 10th April 2021 from 3pm onwards. The panellists for the event are four of Sri Lanka’s top brand experts from different industries. They are Chetaka Gunawardena – Senior Brand Manager for Lifebuoy at Unilever, Charith De Chickera – Head of Brands Strategy and Corporate Communications at Bharti Airtel Lanka, Surein Wijeyeratne – Head of Corporate Communications and Branding at MAS Holdings and Subodha Pilimatalawwe – Founder and CEO of Seven Media Group.
While understanding how brands influence consumers is one of the most interesting topics for today’s marketers, it is also one of the biggest challenges for corporates across Sri Lanka. They are faced with numerous challenges that include a proliferation of brands in media, dwindling attention span of consumers, the rise of Millennials who do not necessarily trust TV advertising and celebrity endorsements as well as Baby Boomers and Gen Xs in top management positions struggling to understand and connect with Millennials in order to position their brands. The SLIM Brand Summit 2021 will address these issues by covering topics such as emerging new trends in brand management, promoting brands in the new normal, thinking and acting global, and ways to become a responsible brand.
Chetaka Gunawardena will be discussing the emerging trends in the “new normal”. He will evaluate whether the current strategies in the FMCG sector are delivery results, recommend new strategies that will help to take brands to a stronger position and will also be giving tips and advice on how to make a FMCG brand more profitable. Surein Wijeyeratne will shed light on how MAS Holdings has become a global B2B apparel brand as well as being a responsible brand during a global crisis such as the ongoing pandemic. Subodha Pilimatalawwe and Charith De Chickera will provide guidance on how to navigate the post-pandemic world and build a brand in today’s “new normal”.
